CASE STUDY

How Theresa has helped clients and their families:

A daughter called to ask for help for her 98-year-old mother who had taken a fall 2 weeks earlier in her apartment in a retirement residence.

Her mother had been in hospital for 2 weeks, and had been given no rehabilitation exercises at all — which led to more weakness.

The daughter was overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start, so over the phone I explained how I could help, and she booked an appointment.

At the assessment, I spent time discussing options and resources for care, and the best devices to rent, such as walkers, bars, a floor-to-ceiling pole, and toilet seat.

My goal was to help the mother become as independent as possible. Education is also a big part of my service, so I involved the daughter in all aspects of the sessions so she could learn and ask questions.

During the session, the daughter contacted the care aid company while I was present to confirm information. I was also able to assist her to ask the right questions.

At the end of the session, the daughter and her mother had a plan in place, had education, information, and exercises to continue to strengthen and regain her independence.

My motto is integrity with compassion.  I look forward to treating you or your loved one with the same level and care and expertise.
